There is a lot to do and see during Northern Spark’s 8 hours of art! Use this information to plan your night.

Dates and Times
Northern Spark will take place on Saturday, June 11 from 9:00 pm until 5:30 am.

  • June 11, 9:00 pm – June 12, 2:00 am: Experience all art projects
  • June 12, 2:00 am – 5:30 am: Closing event on Raspberry Island

Northern Spark Information Hubs are a great way to get essential questions answered. Info Hubs have night-of festival updates, first aid supplies, and a festival reference map. Stop by and chat with a friendly volunteer.

Look for the Red Flags

Once you’re at a festival spot, all projects are marked by tall signs with red Northern Spark flags.

ADA Accessibility

Some projects are in unconventional spaces and may not have easy ADA access. All indoor venues are ADA accessible. Each festival project has its own Accessibility notes; please check the individual project pages or festival signage for details.

COVID Safety

With abundant caution and care for our community, all festival artists, staff and volunteers are required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test result within 72 hours of the festival date.

Festival goers are encouraged to wear masks outdoors and required to wear masks indoors at Springboard for the Arts and Minnesota Museum of American Art (The M). Masks will be available at Springboard. Mask wearing is encouraged indoors at Rondo Community Library. 

Where to eat and drink

Food vendors and restaurants. Food is just as important as art at Northern Spark!

Demera Ethiopian Restaurant, located in between festival projects on University Ave.


Weather Updates

Northern Spark happens rain or (star) shine. Bring a jacket for later in the night as the temperature cools off. Visit and follow us on social media for night-of changes due to weather. 

Pro Tips for Having a Great Night(s)

  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Bring weather appropriate gear and layers of clothing.
  • Download your Metro Transit Free Ride Pass here (available soon) and ride to the festival. 
  • Stay hydrated!—bring a water bottle to fill up at Springboard for the Arts.
  • Fuel up—bring snacks to eat and enjoy festival food vendor offerings.
